Continuing Education for ICCI Credentials

Keep Growing in Your Calling

At ICCI, we believe growth never stops. Continuing Education (CE) is one of the ways Christian Life Coaches continue sharpening their skills, deepening their biblical foundation, and growing in their ability to help others well.

To maintain an active ICCI Core Credential, credential holders must complete 15 continuing education hours each year. To maintain an active ICCI Specialization Credential, credential holders must complete five continuing education hours each year within that specialization category. These hours must include both biblical principles and coaching-related growth that incorporates appropriate theory, knowledge, and practice.

But unlike many credentialing organizations, ICCI’s Continuing Education process is designed to be simple, flexible, and ministry-friendly.

Important Clarification About ICCI Continuing Education

When we talk about continuing education at ICCI, we are referring to education completed for the purpose of maintaining your ICCI credential.

ICCI continuing
education is:

  • Based on an honor system
  • Self-directed and flexible
  • Designed to support your ongoing growth as a Christian Life Coach
  • Something you track on your own and do not need to formally submit to ICCI each year

ICCI continuing
education is NOT:

  • State-approved CEs for licensed counselors, therapists, or social workers
  • Official continuing education credits for outside licensing boards or organizations
  • A formal accreditation or reporting system

At this time, ICCI does not provide official CE credits for maintaining state licensure or credentials through other organizations. However, we are actively exploring opportunities to offer those options in the future.

What Counts as Continuing Education?

Continuing education can include many different kinds of learning experiences that help you grow as a Christian Life Coach.

Some examples include:

  • Coaching courses or workshops
  • Conferences or seminars
  • Ministry training
  • Coaching supervision or mentoring
  • Reading and self-study
  • Teaching or presenting
  • Writing or publishing coaching content
  • Online learning programs
  • Training completed through churches or ministries

Two Types of Continuing Education Activities

Category 1

Learning & Growth Activities

Most of your continuing education hours should come from activities where you are learning, receiving training, or developing your skills.

Examples include:

  • Coaching workshops or conferences
  • Online courses or webinars
  • Ministry or church-based training
  • Coaching supervision or consultation
  • Self-study programs with certificates of completion
  • Reading or training programs with documented participation

This category is about continuing to grow personally, spiritually, and professionally as a coach.

Category 2

Teaching & Leadership Activities

You may also count activities where you are helping equip others through coaching, leadership, or training.

Examples include:

  • Teaching coaching-related classes
  • Speaking at conferences or workshops
  • Leading training sessions
  • Developing coaching curriculum or training materials
  • Publishing books, articles, or coaching resources

These activities recognize that many ICCI coaches are also pastors, ministry leaders, mentors, teachers, and disciplers who actively invest in others.

Do I Need to Submit Documentation ?

No formal submission process is currently required for annual ICCI continuing education hours.

ICCI uses an honor-system approach built on integrity, stewardship, and personal responsibility. Credential holders should keep simple records of their learning activities for their own reference.

Each year a Core or Specialization Credential is renewed, a simple attestation is used affirming that all requirements have been met. However, ICCI may randomly audit credentialed individuals and request supporting documentation to verify compliance.

Examples of acceptable documentation may include:

Certificates of completion

Higher Ed transcripts and/or diplomas

Notes from conferences or workshops

Training confirmations

Published articles or teaching materials

Coaching supervision records

Event registrations or transcripts
